OUR COMPANY

HISTORY AND MISSION

While our company officially  came into being in 1991, Dr. Kang and Dr. Liang realized the need for good quality Chinese herbs in the U.S. in the 1980s. The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco invited Dr. Kang to teach as a part of the clinical faculty. Dr. Kang left Shanghai’s hospital #1 as Chief of TCM in 1987 to teach Chinese medicine in San Francisco, where at that time he realized that he could not effectively treat the clinic’s patients with the herbs available. So Dr. Liang began shipping small amounts of high quality herbs from Shanghai, China shortly after Dr. Kang’s arrival. Great interest developed in those high quality herbs, and they began shipping full containers of herbs by the early 1990s.

Since 1991, Dr. Kang and Dr. Liang learned many lessons about herbal procurement. The initial discovery was that they needed to visit remote growing regions and farmers rather than rely on the large central herb markets. Throughout the 1990s, Asia Natural has worked directly with farmers and university trained agronomists to find the sources of the main top quality herbs of Chinese medicine. It meant traveling from the eastern provinces of Jilin and Shangdong to the Western provinces of Gansu and Sichuan and going to remote growing sites rather than relying entirely on provincial capital government officials to place orders with farmers.  Dr. Liang, our president, OMD, goes to and represents the actual sites and pays cash to farmers and procurers for herbs that she selects. Over the years Asia Natural has developed friendly relationships and can represent farmers and procurers in more than six provinces.

Included in our company's work are the herb growers & procurers in more than six provinces of mainland China, in the primary growing sites. Dr. Liang,  Emmanuel Segmen (general manager) is responsible for communicating with purchasing departments, QA officers and research and development scientists as well as U.S. government agencies.

Dr. Liang travels to China regularly to meet with growers and prepay their harvests. Currently we have six sites in Nei Mon, Jilin, Sichuan, Shanghai, Shaanxi, Gansu as well as Hebei and Shandong for herbal procurement and inspection. We plan to grow to more sites as needed. We maintain from 5 to 6 containers of dried herbs in our San Francisco warehouse at any given time, and we have containers on the sea coming to San Francisco in all non-summer months.

Our goal here is to provide the top functional herbs of Traditional Chinese Medicine in a chemical-free format with the best possible prices.

Further more, in 1999 Dr. Kang decided to produce a line for practitioners and patients that presents the best and most useful formulas from his lineage as from his acute care experience both in China and in America.

ANCIENT CHINESE TRADITION FOR MODERN DAY USE

Dr. Kang's Formulas™ are created from the purest wild crafted herbs from China. His formulas are a result of over 3,000 years of proven Far Eastern medical expertise combined with modern Western medical knowledge to create effective, safe, all-natural formulas that work.

These formulas were guarded and handed down by Dr. Kang’s ancestors who, for hundreds of years and over 12 generations, have been world-renowned medical experts in the healing art of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

NOW AVAILABLE IN AMERICA

Internationally acclaimed doctor of TCM, acupuncture, and herbology, Dr. Kang began studying medicine at the age of ten. In 1985, he left his position serving as Chief Medical Officer at Shanghai Hospital #1 to help establish a pioneering graduate medical program in San Francisco. He now has one of the most successful TCM private practices in the world with patients who fly in from all corners of the globe such as Korea, Japan, Germany, Ethiopia, and Central America. Throughout his practice he has continued to enhance his formulas while treating acute and chronically ill patients in leading hospitals and clinics in the United States and China.

Dr. Ping Qi Kang has created products under the name of other industry leaders, such as Pacific Biologic Company. Now, he has released his proprietary formulas into a more accessible market, to be available directly to patients and practitioners in America without prescription!

INTEGRATING EASTERN WITH WESTERN MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE

What makes these formulas so potent? Dr. Kang, 60, vibrant, compassionate, personable, and dependable is a great example for the vital formulas he promotes. "I carefully select, combine, and prepare my herbal formulas. Each herb has its specific function and therapeutic action, and how the herbs work together is critical. It is pertinent to understand the traditional functionality of the herbs and their interactions as well as the pharmacological impact they make physiologically. When I make my formulas, I am thinking both in Western Medicine as well as in Chinese Medicine. My patients are getting significant results, and they are extremely safe from side effects."

USING THE BEST QUALITY HERBS

"When I moved to San Francisco, I started to make my formulas with the herbs available here in the US. I discovered I wasn’t getting the results I consistently achieved in China. It became mandatory that we grow and import our own herbs so our patients could get the results they deserve. The herbs available in the US were inferior and many varieties just weren’t available."

Dr. Yu J. Liang, expert herbalist and wife of Dr. Kang, began traveling to remote regions of the world, pre-paying farmers to plant and grow crops to the exact specifications necessary for Dr. Kang‘s Formulas. For example, Dr. Kang uses Sheng Ma that is the true and effective herb of northern Chinese literature: slices that reveal a dark brown border and tan on the inside with high contrast radiations. This species truly raises yang-qi, an important function lacking in other Sheng Ma species. The Dang Gui roots he gets are from Ming County, Gan Su. They are large and whole. When sliced, the Dang Gui is fragrant, moist and oily, with a yellowish brown cortex and a yellowish white cross section. The Huang Qi he uses is from Nei Meng, Inner Mongolia. It is the highest quality, completely natural, untreated and very thinly sliced. Many companies press many pieces of Huang Qi together and then soak it in sugar water and calcium sulfite so that it appears larger and more beautiful. However, this form may cause undesired treatment results and sensitivity reactions in some people.

Dr. Kang's herbs are grown naturally in the best soil conditions without growing agents, chemicals, GMO's (genetically modified organism's) or pesticides. The herbs are cured naturally without sulfites, sugars or preservatives. It can take days, weeks, even months of herb preparation before they are ready to be used. It is a careful process, which cannot be rushed. Our standards are higher than industry. Quality means everything.

HERB PREPARATION

Applying the appropriate technique in preparing each medicinal herb is extremely important.  Dr. Liang says: "Cooking an herb for one hour or ten hours can make all the difference in the strength, function, and safety of the herb." For example, Dr. Kang’s ‘He Shou Wu?is not thin-sliced, brown, and toxic, a result of inadequate cooking time. It is thick, solid, heavy, black on the outside, and reddish brown on the inside. It is prepared via a 16 hour black bean cooking cycle, which eliminates all toxicity and gives it a much stronger kidney tonifying function. The Ban Xia he uses is not brown and toxic from only two days of cooking. It is powdery white outside and pale yellow inside and non-toxic from 7-9 days of cooking. THESE FORMULAS ARE NOT MERELY GROUND HERBS

Dr. Kang's formulas are made from herb concentrate (7:1). "Our formulas are also easily assimilated into the body," says Dr. Kang, as he holds a small capsule over a glass water, pulls the capsule apart and smiles as the formula dissolves instantly on contact with water. " Just as the fine powder dissolves quickly in this water, our formulas are easily absorbed into the body for maximum benefit and no gastro-intestinal side effects. Many herbal formulas on the market have large granules like grains of sand, which do not get completely absorbed." Dr. Kang nods. "I promise that I make every effort to ensure that each formula really works." Click here for quick order of Dr. Kang's formulas.
